Color: Red only
Type of soil: Light, poor, filtrating sand produced from crumbled granite.
Location of vineyard plots: On slopes, Southwestern exposure
Location of plots: Bel air, les grandes terres, crozet, Souzon.
Average age of vines: 50 years
Growing method: Head-pruning, shredded vine shoots, several trellised parcels, 25 % grass-seeded, narrow tractor for mechanical work.
Winemaking method: Beaujolais winemaking with controlled temperatures, 7-9 day vatting period.
Harvesting methods: Manual harvesting for all beaujolais A.O.C.
Wine aging: It is aged in stainless steel or epoxy coated cement vats for 7 months, then bottled during the months of April-May. Some prestige vintages are aged in vats for 9 to 12 months.
Average shelf life: 3 to 4 years
Tasting: Intense ruby red color, dominant floral notes of iris, violet, lily of the valley and peony. Its red fruits taste qualities remarkably express the Gamay variety. By nature, Chiroubles is a delicious wine that gives the amateur a pleasant smooth sensation on the palate.
